Andrew Z is a 2nd generation jeweler with over 20 years of jewelry store ownership experience, industry credentials, and a friendly personality. He is an IJO Master Jeweler, a graduate of the prestigious Gemological Institute of America, as well as a graduate, professional engineer. Over the past 20 years Andrew has attended many seminars and classes ranging from quartz watch repair to diamond cutting discussions with the world renowned diamond cutter Mr. Gabi Tolkowsky.

Andrew’s father was a watchmaker, who, at one point, was the owner of 4 jewelry stores in New York and New Jersey. This is where Andrew began his training at around 10 years old, cleaning and stocking cases, and then later helping to manage a store during high school summer vacations. Needless to say, this early grooming eventually led to a long career, with Andrew operating and owning his own very busy and successful jewelry store for over 20 years.

Sunshine, family, and maybe a little golf finally brought Andrew to Anthem, Arizona where he can share his knowledge, business contacts, and experience, in a more relaxed environment.

At the recent semi-annual conference of the Independent Jewelers Organization, held in Chicago, IL, Andrew Z had the privilege of a conversation with celebrated Antwerp diamond cutter Gabi Tolkowsky. After speaking to the assembly of more than 1,500 attendees about the exciting new Arges Cut diamond, available exclusively to IJO members, Tolkowsky posed for photos.

Gabi Tolkowsky, bestowed with knighthood by the Belgian government in 2002,is the sixth generation of a family renowned in the diamond trade, and is currently the most famous diamond cutter in the world. He was entrusted by Debeers to cut the legendary “Centenary Diamond”,starting out at more than 600 carats of rough, and finally weighing in at 273.85 carats-the world’s largest D flawless diamond. He was also responsible for cutting the 546.65 carat fancy yellow-brown “Golden Jubilee”, the world’s largest polished diamond.

In his address to IJO members, Gabi reminded them of how lucky they were to be in a business that is all centered around love. “A diamond is love, a diamond is beauty. You have the privilege of bringing joy to all the people around you,” he stated.
